Before
Incorporating a maintenance access road for a new residential SWM pond posed several challenges. The road needed to have a gravel appearance to blend seamlessly with the surroundings, while also preventing erosion and allowing stormwater runoff infiltration.
Preparation
To address these challenges, the Project Engineer implemented Ecoraster E50, a permeable pavement solution. Unlike traditional gravel roads prone to erosion, E50 offers
both the desired aesthetic and the necessary structural integrity to withstand heavy vehicle loading while permitting stormwater infiltration.
Installation
The installation process was straightforward, facilitated by the E50’s modular design. Each layer measures 1m x 1.33m x 0.05m deep and can be connected quickly at a rate of approximately 100 sqm per person per hour.
Benefits include: Adaptable to cold climates: Ecoraster can withstand harsh environmental conditions, including snow plowing, ensuring year-round functionality. Resistant to UV exposure and aggressive solvents. Modular in design: simplifies installation and facilitates customization to suit project requirements. Manufactured in Canada from recycled LDPE. Promotes infiltration. Minimizing water runoff and promoting groundwater recharge.
After
By implementing Ecoraster E50 as the maintenance access road for the residential SWM pond, the project not only achieves its functional objectives but also underscores a commitment to sustainability and innovation in stormwater management practices.
