Before
This barn in rural Ontario is used primarily as a birthing barn for cows. As a new development, Ecoraster was the chosen solution for this space during the planning process. The owners of the farm had seen the great benefits of Ecoraster in a previous location, and knew this solution would continue to ensure a clean and safe environment for cattle.
Preparation
Ecoraster E50 was chosen as a base for the barn flooring. Once the ground was leveled, the paver base was laid and leveled to prepare for installation.
Installation
The client was once again impressed with the ease of Ecoraster installation and how quickly the paver grid system came together. To complete the barn mats, soil was used to fill the grid, and the cattle bedding material was placed on top.
After
The results were immediate. The Ecoraster plastic grid ensures that the cattle bedding layer will remain dry and insulated, keeping the resident cows clean, healthy, and happy. The barn owners are thrilled with the results and have seen huge cost-savings related to livestock bedding. Because of the permeability of Ecoraster, the bedding remains dry and intact, needing to be replaced far less often. Ecoraster has also created a stable base that allows heavy machinery to access the barn without causing damage to the barn mats. This reduces maintenance time, providing even more cost-savings to the owners.
